How cruel can people be?

A Dallas, Texas – Matthew Louis Reese, 31 pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated sexual assault with serious bodily injury and sexual assault to a 15-year-old child.
‎Matthew wasn’t attracted to  women his own age so he ventured onto a chat line where he met a teenage girl.. At the time the teen would claim to be 17-years-old, although later the same night she would confess to being 15-years-old..    

While that age would definitely scare most men and turn them off, it actually enticed Matthew.  Even more exciting to Reese is the fact that the young girl told him that she’d never had sex or kissed a boy.

In December 2012, When her parents discovered the girl on the phone with Reese, he convinced her mother that he was 18 and they let him continue to have contact with her because the 3-year-age difference was no big deal.. Little did the parents know their 15-year-old teenage girl was about to enter into a relationship with a man more than twice her age.

The two would carry on a  seven-month relationship between 2012 and 2013. Their first time having sex  would be at a Dallas movie theater, in the back of Reese’s car.  

A few months later Reese would be arrested on drug charges.. During that time period he would write the teen and express his love for her.

Dallas Detective Carol Steward testified that Reese appeared to be grooming the girl, showering her with compliments and telling her he wanted to move in with her and get her pregnant once he was released. He also asked her to send him naked photos and money.

Her mother, who is just four years older than Reese, said that family members discovered his actual age in September when they looked up his criminal record and learned he had convictions for drug charges, family violence assault, evading arrest and resisting arrest.

While Reese was in jail, the teen eventually fell ill, lapsing into a coma for two weeks and spending 40 days in hospital after her kidneys failed, and she was later diagnosed with HIV.  When she talked to Reese on the phone and revealed her HIV status to him, Reese told her that he “was clean.”

He was diagnosed in 2006, the Dallas Morning News reports. Reese repeatedly had unprotected sex with the girl without telling her he has HIV.  They never used a condom. The 15-year-old girl was not Reese’s only victim. 

A 40-year-old male inmate testified Wednesday that he had consensual sex with Reese in the Dallas County Jail. He said Reese did not tell him about his HIV positive status. Had he known, he said, he would not have had sex with Reese.
