Thief drowns inside well in Lagos.

A man who went to a compound to steal met his ugly end when he fell inside a well and drowned in the process.
A well of death

A suspected thief who jumped a fence into a compound in the Alagbado area of Lagos State ostensibly to steal, mistakenly fell into an uncovered well but drowned before help could come his way.

It was gathered that the man had scaled the fence of the house located on Modupe Ajayi Close in the area, around 1am on Thursday, February 11, not knowing that there was a well in the middle of the compound.
As he allegedly made his way into the compound, he fell into the well and his cries woke up the residents, who alerted the police and officials of the Lagos State Fire Service but before the help could come, the man had died.
An official of the fire service said:
“Somebody ran into our Agege station around 1am and said a man had fallen into their well. He was recovered dead about one hour later.”
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Dolapo Badmos, said the deceased scaled the fence into the compound, adding that he was a suspected thief.
“At about 1.30am, one Tosin Babatunde of Modupe Ajayi Close, Alagbado, came to the station and reported that a man of unknown identity, suspected to be a thief, scaled the fence into their compound and landed in a well. Investigation is still in progress,” Badmos said.
